  The Lost Wax Casting Procedure

 
     
 
Step 1.

Use of Odiolai (T) for the purpose of fixing various measurements of the Icon

 Shaving off excess wax from various parts of the Icon

   

Step 3.

The basic wax model before fixing hands

 
 
Step 4.

Fixing the limbs (made separately) with the torso of the wax model

   
Step 5.

A complete basic wax model ready for clay coating

The first coating of clay using Vandal munn(T)

The mould from which wax is removed (note the iron wires that strengthen the mould)
 

 
Step 8.

Fuel for heating the crucible and melting the alloy

Various tools used during melting of alloy (tools for holding the crucible, mixing the alloy)
 

 
Step 11.

The red hot pre-heated mould is buried under the ground with its mouth open
 

 
Step 12.

The molten alloy is poured inside the red hot buried mould.

The icon, obtained after breaking the mould is worked with to bring out the finer features
 

 
Final Step.

The master sthapati (T) finally brings out the facial features with great care
